Stirred by God, Part 3

One final sign of a people “stirred” by God…

7. Stirt people can expect opposition.

Who were these “adversaries”? 2 Kings 17:24-33; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

Specific forms of opposition from Ezra 4:

  • Infiltration (v. 4) – Acts 20:28-30; 1 John 2:18-19
  • Discouragement (v. 4) – Numbers 13:31-33, 14:7-9; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
  • Intimidation (v. 4) – Psalm 27:1-6; Romans 8:31-39; Philippians 1:19-24
    • What are you focused on?
    • What are you comparing your circumstances to?
    • Remind each other of the promises of God and His faithfulness to keep them.
  • Frustration (v. 5) – Romans 12:17-19; 1 Peter 4:19; Philippians 1:28
    • Our patient endurance in the face of opposition sends a clear signal to our adversaries that they have already been defeated – it’s just a matter of time before they realize it.
  • Accusation (v. 6-16) – John 16:2; Matthew 5:11-12; Acts 5:4; 1 Peter 2:15
    • Jesus said we were blessed.
    • Jesus said we would be rewarded.
    • Jesus said we are in good company.
  • Force (v. 17-24) – Acts 4:18-19; Acts 4:23-31

God will always finish what He started! Ezra 6: 7-12, 14-15, 22
